Questions raised as highway widening responsibility goes to a reckless company

Lokjan Today, Dehradun: The work on the Haridwar-Doon National Highway infamous for delayed construction and accidents have begun work rapidly. This project is expected to be completed in a year, but by then it will be difficult to estimate the construction period of the highway and how many people will be required. Because the agencies that have been entrusted with the construction of the highway have not been careful about security arrangements.

Many security arrangements have still not been made in the crash locations. Between Mohakampur and Kuanwala, between Bhaniywal and Lalitpad between Nepal and Far-Haridwar, there is a dangerous situation on the highways in many places, but there are no measures to protect the security.
Knowing that more than 150 people have died on this highway so far. By 2017, there were 231 accidents on the highway, of which 142 people were killed and 161 were injured. Most 54 incidents took place in 2013, in which 28 people died and 48 were injured. In 2016, the maximum number of 29 people died in highway accidents.

Road accidents due to the half-constructed highway also rocked the state government and central road and transport ministry. Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari was very distressed from this project and considered it a scandal for the ministry. The case of continuous road accidents reached the High Court and passed the order on the construction of the highway from the court. Chief Minister Trivandrum Singh Rawat and MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, after continuous pressure on the ministry, canceled the contract of the old company and the two new agencies were given the construction work of the highway.
NHAI Roh Sikya Sinha told that the two agencies working on the highway have already been given these guidelines that they will make adequate security arrangements. They have been asked to take steps for hoardings, safety marks and other safety measures at the accident site. If there is any negligence in it, then they will be asked to strictly follow the guidelines.
