PM Narendra Modi biopic to be released after polls by Lok Sabha, SC tells EC that it will not step in

Four days after India’s election commission submitted its report to the Supreme Court to stop PM Narendra Modi’s release biopic until Lok Sabha’s polls are over, the apex court refused to step in. A bench comprising India’s Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna said they are not going to interfere in the matter on Friday.
This came after a 20-page report was prepared by the commission and sent to the Supreme Court on Monday, claiming that the biopic’s public screening in the ongoing elections would “remove the electoral balance.”
The court members also instructed the counsel of the Election Commission to share the report with the producers of the film. The polling body also pointed out in its report 17 dialogs in the 135-minute film that made the EC stall the biopic’s release.
PM Narendra Modi biopic starring Vivek Oberoi is now going to hit the screens after the last polling date, i.e. May, 19th.
