Indian captain Virat Kohli, who will lead the country in his 1st World Cup as the skipper is banking on England’s large Indian contingent to support the team through their campaign for the title. Kohli, who attended the opening ceremony of the 2019 World Cup together with the other captains, was overwhelmed at the function by the majority of Indian support.

Kohli, who received the loudest cheer as he walked on to the stage, said India are looking to use the incredible crowd support in the UK to their advantage in the upcoming tournament.

“It’s lovely to be here. We have such a huge fan base in England. The number of people traveling from home as well. It’s great to see at every stadium we play at, at least 50 percent of the crowd is Indian fans. For us, that’s a thing of pressure but a thing of pride as well. Hopefully, we have got to use to the crowd support to our advantage,” Kohli said.

All the 10 captains were in attendance later in the day at the opening ceremony held at The Mall, the iconic street in central London.
