Kedar Jadhav was ruled out of the rest of the 2019 Indian Premier League, confirmed on Monday by Chennai Super Kings.
Kedar left the field with physio Tommy Simsek after hurting his shoulder in Sunday’s game between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. The incident occurred in the 14th over of the KXIP innings when Kedar dived to his left to stop Ravindra Jadeja’s downfall.
At the KXIP-CSK post-match press conference, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming suggested against Kedar’s further participation in the season. Fleming had said that the focus of Kedar would now shift to the World Cup as he would no longer play games in the IPL.
“Kedar is getting an X-ray and a scan tomorrow. We’re hopeful for him. I don’t think we’ll see him again in this tournament for us. So now his attention will turn to what it looks like for the World Cup. He’s in some discomfort but we just need to be accurate with our assessments tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it’s nothing too serious,” Fleming had said on Sunday.
On Monday, CSK confirmed the development of Kedar’s fitness with a social media post.
“The Lion that will be sitting it out for the rest of the season. Wishing our Kedar a super speedy recovery from the sustained shoulder injury! The Pride will miss you,” CSK posted.
