Pakistan PM launched the public version of the country’s first-ever National Security Policy (NSP) 2022-2026, vowing that the nation would now be headed in the right direction.
This document has been introced in a time when pakistan is standing at the crossroad. Economy is at the verge of collapse domestic violance and unstability has become a vital feature of system of Pakistan. Also there is no option left but to clean up it’s image before the world community.
The document was launched a day after Pakistan’s parliament passed a mini-budget and much criticised State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) amendment bill to meet the requirements of the IMF ahead of the release of $1-billion bailout package by the IMF. The package is a part of the $6-billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme that Pakistan had agreed with the IMF in July 2019.
Pakistan has been struggling with a state of confusion ie its negative approach towards India and its ability of managing strategic affairs of Afganistan.Although policy makers and security advisers of the country has been biased and on a wrong path.
Ofcourse there are some saliant features this Pakistan’s national security policy
India has been vocal against Pakistan that the country has been planting and giving a safe heaven to the terrorism which has been prooved on many instances apart from what pakistan does in our Kashmir the country hosted Al-quaida chief Osama Bin Laden who was nutrilised by American forces in Abbotabad pakistan. Pakistan through this document says that “Pakistan pursues a policy of zero tolerance for any groups involved in terrorist activities on its soil.”
again pakitan think that her soil has been used to water terrorism. Which India is most concern about.
Again, India is mentioned at least 16 times, more than any other nation, in the 62-page NSP for 2022-2026 with Jammu and Kashmir at the “core”. “A just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains at the core of our bilateral relationship it says. Pakistan is somewhat and at many places thinks that for securing a good relationship with india would be in their favour clearly policy makers are more concerned about India. Although contrary to Delhi’s assertions, the document blames India for “ceasefire violations” along the LoC, which is strange.
moving to the more strange assertions in the document, it says that, Pakistan remains steadfast in its moral, diplomatic, political, and legal support to the people of Kashmir until they achieve their right to self-determination guaranteed by the international community as per United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. A country who is already oppresing people from its parts of Kashmir, Balochistan where pakistani army is accused of violating human rights.
At a time when pakistan is facing humiliation of “grey list” by global Financial Action Task Force (FATF) it only lists terrorism”, “extremism” and “sectarianism” in its “Internal Security” which is again strange.
If we are listing here in this article some strange things about pakistan’s security document we must pay our heeds that it devotes not much space to its all weather waether friend China, West Asia and Pakistan’s partners in the Gulf, and Turkey and Saudi Arabia have one-line mentions.
