Doctor thrashed by family of the deceased patient, doctor stops work

Lokjan Today, Kotdwar: During the treatment at the Base Hospital of Kotdwar, families stricken by the death of a patient attacked the hospital’s surgeon. In protest of the incident, hospital staff announced the boycott of work, stopping all services except the emergency medical room. In the case, the demand for action was taken by the authorities in the Kotwali against those who attacked the hospital administration.

The incident occurred late at night. Jagat Singh, a resident of Padampur, was brought to the emergency hospital at Kotdwar at around eight in the night, where the surgeon present, Satish Kumar treated the patient with the first aid and shifted the ward, where Jagat Singh died shortly after. After the death, the families started commotion in the emergency. CMM R S Chauhan arrived at the spot after the incident, and after hearing the whole thing, after completing the duty, he returned home. After returning home, he sent the surgeon Satish Kumar to the emergency ward. Seeing the surgeon, the family got angry and accused the doctor of being negligent in the treatment and started creating a ruckus. During the ruckus, the surgeon got assaulted by the family of the patient. CMS R S Chouhan, among other medical personnel, intervened.

Here, in the protest against the incident on Monday, medical personnel have stalled all the services except for the Emergency, so patients are facing problems. Here, all the doctors and medical personnel reached Kotwali, where Dr. Satish Kumar has filed a complaint about assault and abuse against the family members of the deceased. Later the physicians also met SDM and demanded action against the accused.
