Chandra Pant victorious in Pithoragarh’s electoral battle

BJP candidate Chandra Pant has created history by winning in Pithoragarh Assembly by-election. This is the first time a woman legislator has been elected in the Pithoragarh Assembly. BJP candidate Chandra Pant defeated Congress candidate Anju Lunthi by 3267 votes to win the victory. After winning the by-election, there is an atmosphere of happiness among BJP workers. The workers expressed their happiness in a simple manner after winning. On the other hand, the victorious candidate Chandra Pant has thanked the people of the assembly constituency. He also said that it is his priority to fulfill the unfinished dreams of Late Prakash Pant.

Anju Lundhi (Congress) – 22819
Manoj Bhatt (SP) – 835

After the formation of the state, Prakash Pant of BJP has been an MLA for two consecutive terms in the Pithoragarh assembly seat. In the elections of 2002 and 2007, this seat was in BJP’s account. In the 2012 assembly elections, Congress candidate Mayukh Meher defeated Prakash Pant and put this seat in Congress. At the same time, in the elections held in 2017, then BJP’s Prakash Pant won this seat. In this assembly vacated by the death of late Prakash Pant, BJP had fielded his wife Chandra Pant. BJP candidate Chandra Pant has won in the by-election.
