The Vigilance Department has completed its investigation into the corruption in the police recruitment scam and handed it over to the government. No evidence of bribery was found against many sub-inspectors, while allegations have been proven against several others. Twenty sub-inspectors have been under suspension since last January. Now, the government will decide the fate of these sub-inspectors. It is being said that a decision on filing cases or taking other actions against these sub-inspectors will be made in the upcoming meeting of the vigilance committee. It is noteworthy that in May 2022, the Special Task Force began investigating the corruption in the graduate-level examination conducted by the UKSSSC. Several accused and members of the cheating mafia were arrested in this investigation. Meanwhile, earlier, irregularities were also revealed in some other recruitments. It was found that there was large-scale corruption in the direct recruitment exam for Sub-Inspectors conducted in 2015 as well. This examination was conducted by Pant Nagar University. After the approval of the Police Headquarters, this case was handed over to the Vigilance Department. On October 8, 2022, the Vigilance filed a case against a total of eight people, including members of the cheating mafia, in the Haldwani sector.
