BJP workers in North Parganas shot dead

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was shot dead on Sunday night in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. Last night, unidentified assailants shot dead Chandan Shaw, 24, while driving a two-wheeler.

The murder made the area tense and the security forces were deployed in the area.

Post-poll violence in different parts of West Bengal has continued. Reports of an attack on the convoy of a state minister, beating up ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers, and supposedly ransacking party offices by BJP workers came in earlier.

On Sunday, the convoy of forest minister Binay Krishna Burman was attacked by those allegedly belonging to the BJP, after which police rescued him, who rushed to the place, police said. Violent incidents were also reported from Dinhata in Coochbehar, Paharpur in Jalpaiguri and Gangarampur Dakshin Dinajpur, sources in the state police department said.
