The death toll in Libya rises to 205 in the fighting in Tripoli.

A minimum of 205 people were killed and 913 others wounded in the armed conflict between the Libyan National Army of Haftar and the Libyan Armed Forces to control Tripoli’s capital.

On their official Twitter handle, the World Health Organization in Libya wrote, “Toll for armed conflict in # Tripoli is 205 dead and 913 wounded. Medical specialists who have been deployed by WHO # Libya to support frontline hospitals are helping dozens of operations.”

Since the death of dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been largely divided into two factions. The LNA – backed parliament controlled east Libya, while the United Nations – backed Interim National Accord Government (GNA) governs Tripoli’s western region of Libya.

Spokeswoman for the Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar tweeted two Indian Embassy helpline numbers in Tripoli on Thursday. In his tweet, Kumar added that the Embassy would extend all possible support to Indian citizens.

The armed battle began on April 4 when Haftar announced an attack against Tripoli to capture the capital and the entire west of Libya from the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA), headed by Serraj.
